The Queensland Greens today described the Bligh government’s announcement of an increased offer of compensation to Indigenous workers or their descendants as woefully inadequate.

Similar to the recent Greenpeace gathering in the Whitsunday’s, last night’s gathering of a group of Bowen residents heard that under the Bligh government, heavy industry was invading the coastal wetlands of Qld in direct contravention to international treaties and federal government plans to protect the Great Barrier Reef.

The Queensland Greens say that the response by Minister for Transport, Warren Pitt to RACQ's criticism of the proposed Hale Street Bridge is arrogant and a symptom of why the Bligh government is struggling in the polls against the newly formed Liberal National Party.
