Two women leaders of the city - Smt. Rashida Bee and Smt. Champa Devi Shukla who recently received the international Goldman Prize for Environment were warmly greeted at the Bhopal Railway Station upon their return from a campaign trip to USA and UK. Over a thousand women and men survivors of the December '84 Union Carbide disaster congratulated the two leaders with garlands and "gulal". The Speak Truth to Power rally will feature the voices of the mothers and fathers of soldiers who oppose the war; those in the Muslim and Arab communities whose families have been ripped apart through raids, detentions, and secret hearings; representatives of the working class communities in Washington, DC and elsewhere who are struggling to cope with the destruction of social programs; we will hear the voices of the people of Haiti and the Philippines and Korea who are living under U.S. military intervention and occupation. June 5 is the anniversary of the Israeli seizure of the West Bank and Gaza and we will hear the voice of the embattled Palestinian people who to this moment are having their children shot and their homes razed as the U.S.-backed violence escalates. These are the voices of the people who are uniting to bring an end to the war at home and abroad and to fight for justice.

"By defending the freedom and prosperity and security of Israel, you're also serving the cause of America...I know there are buses outside waiting to take you to CapitolHill. I'm told -- Howard told me there's over 500 meetings scheduled withmembers of the Senate and the House. That is good news. I'm sure you're going topass this message on to them: A free, prosperous and secure Israel is in this nation's national interest."
-- President George W. Bush, Address to the AIPAC Policy Conference, May 18, 2004
