Stop occupation and war

In June 2007, the eight biggest capitalist powers will meet in Germany, in the city of Heiligendamm. These G8 meetings have assumed a symbolic character representing the imperialist policy all over the world: While the world's mightiest are enjoying their cheerful get togethers, dinner parties and cocktails, their armies are bombing innocent people, fighting repressing and torturing civilians, crushing legitimate resistance elsewhere in the world. Their corporations are looting resources belonging to other peoples in other parts of the world, their companies are exploiting the world's poor and undefended to satisfy their masters' greed. Their diplomacies are pressurizing sovereign countries in order to make them subjugate under imperialist interests.

book 'The Eureka Stockade- by Arthur Cristian

Tony Rigg has agreed to be/live behind the barriers as of Tuesday morning 20th February 2007. In discussions with Tony, we now ask all victims of banisters since the 1970's to unite together in solidarity with us, as a show of strength and unity in support of the 2nd Eureka Stockade. For those who do not know about Tony's actions since the mid 1980's please go to this page for further information.

There is and has always been a divine influence that has meddled in the minds of the bank staff, the solicitors and the judiciary, leading to our court case and now the 2nd Eureka Stockade. The opportunity has been presented to us and we should grab it while we have got it and use it to force our story into main-stream. This coming together of all victims in the spirit of love-for-life is a healing and a stand for love-for-life. Alan Heart, a native American is compiling Australian victims of banks into a website and this is being listed in our website www.loveforlife.com.au shortly.

Climate Change Road Show-by Ruth Rosenhek

In response to growing public concern about climate change, the Rainforest Information Centre is taking to the road to address the psychological and emotional issues surrounding global warming.

The 'Climate Change Despair and Empowerment' roadshow aims to motivate people to take action against climate change in the wake of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth.

The multi-media presentation includes video footage of Al Gore speaking about the huge impact Australia could make in the U.S. if it signed the Kyoto Protocol.

Change the system - not the climate!

Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth has helped dramatise the enormity of the global environmental crisis... But Gore focuses on individual actions, makes few serious demands on big business and endorses the largely voluntary market-based measures, such as emissions trading, that are contained in Kyoto. Yet, what is required is the rapid, far-reaching reorganisation of industry, energy, transport and mass consumption patterns, and the massive transfer of clean technology to the Third World. This is simply not possible under capitalism.

Cruelty and xenophobia in the 'lucky country'

-by John Pilger

The Australian writer Donald Horne meant the title of his celebrated book, The Lucky Country, as irony. "Australia is a lucky country run by second-rate people who share its luck", he lamented in 1964, describing much of the Australian elite as unfailingly unoriginal, race-obsessed and in thrall to imperial power and its wars.

Government policies killing Aborigines

On January 18, the Australian ran a story on a leaked report commissioned by the Peter Beattie Labor Queensland government on the shocking living conditions for Aborigines in Queensland (see accompanying article). Green Left Weekly asked Sam Watson, Murri leader and member of the Socialist Alliance, about this and the ongoing struggle for justice for Indigenous people in Australia.

1) Civil war in Iraq: we continue to support the resistance

We speak plain language: the Sunni-Shiite conflict in Iraq has grown in the course of the last six months into a sort of civil war.

It helps little, to simply argue against this position by pointing out that all this has been caused by the machinations of the USA and of Zionism - as many of our friends in the resistance like to do. Surely the USA contributed substantially to this split, without however carrying this on their banner from the outset. For the civil war does not indicate by any means the success of Washington, but its total fiasco, its complete loss of control of the situation.

Chianciano Terme, Province of Siena, Tuscany, Italy
Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 March, 2007

The national assembly of the promoting forces, which met last Sunday in Florence, decided to finally convene the international conference: "Against the Occupation, with the Resistance - with a Just Peace in Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine".

After the struggle of 2005, when the Italian government impeded the conference on order of the US, after the success of the campaign for the visas which seem to be granted this time, and with the renewed interest of different sectors of the Arab Resistance movement time has come to hold this important international convention.
