Banks Operate According To The Law Of The Jungle

University of Sydney Shield- by Dr Evan Jones

At present in Australia, banks are effectively above the law with respect to small business customers. Banks operate, self-consciously, in the realm of the law of the jungle. The public image of the Australian regulatory system is that the rule of law prevails. The ACCC, ASIC, APRA, and so on, are the public face of this public image. The public image in this domain is a lie.

Most victims, good law-abiding citizens, have lapsed into passivity, which suits the banks and the regulatory agencies perfectly. The less fuss the better. The victims have been reduced to idleness (when not futilely seeking assistance from politicians and regulators), supported by relatives, and/or are on pensions at public expense. Family breakdown is par for the course. Suicide is not unknown, especially amongst farmers (drought is a contributing factor to depression in the bush, but bank thuggery is also a contributing factor, well known to those affected but suppressed by the media and rendered oblivious to those in authority).

Frankly, one can understand if bank victims took the view that they could achieve better justice if they themselves took the law into their own hands and operated according to the same law of the jungle.

4 Years too long! Bring the Troops Home!

IRAQ: Four years after the US-led invasion of Iraq, the country is wracked by ongoing and escalating violence. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have died, according to a study published in the respected British medical journal The Lancet in October.

The corporate media's coverage of the Iraq conflagration has focused only on reports of sectarian violence between Sunni and Shiite Iraqis. This violence is stripped of political context and conflated with the post-invasion surge in common criminality and the brutality of US and US-controlled proxy forces to obscure the roots of the ongoing bloodshed. The media presents the greatest threat to Iraqis as not being the occupation but other Iraqis and therefore, the logic goes, the occupation's end. Sectarian violence is today the key justification espoused by Washington for maintaining US troops in Iraq.

Spellbinding Look At A Secret History

Witchcraft and magic were alive and well in Australia's colonial days, if the findings of respected author and historian Ian Evans are anything to go by.

Mr Evans will reveal all when he talks next Wednesday at the Queensland Museum about his research into this previously unknown "underworld" in colonial Australia.

Spells and witchcraft are commonplace in the history of many countries, but have managed to bypass Australian historians almost completely - until recently.

Ian believes a convict woman's boot from the Moreton Bay penal settlement was part of an ancient folk magic ritual, and the boot is one of many objects found in old houses and buildings across Australia for the same reason. The boot was found in the roof cavity of the old Commissariat Store in William Street, Brisbane in 1913, but its full meaning has only been recently revealed.

'Clean coal' is smoke and mirrors

'Clean coal' is smoke and mirrors- by Ben Courtice
9 February 2007

Australian coal-mining companies and Prime Minister John Howard are promoting "clean coal" as a technology that will enable the coal industry to continue its exports while supposedly cleaning up the greenhouse-gas emissions from the burning of this coal.

According to the Australian Coal Association (ACA), clean-coal technologies "reduce emissions, reduce waste, and increase the amount of energy gained from each tonne of coal". These measures focus on capturing and storing the carbon dioxide gas emitted from burning coal to power electricity generation.

Last Wednesday, the day after the 2nd Eureka Stockade 21st February 2007, and the sheriff/security guards took possession of Fiona's home, we had a Sydney North Shore family who came out of the blue (the first one in 7 months) and wanted to buy the house for $900k (for the past 7 months or so all other offers were around the $800k mark leaving us with hardly any money due to bank & legal fees etc & besides we were determined to hold on to the house at all cost but we failed with limited man power at last weeks stockade). We all agreed on the $900k deal & contracts were to be exchanged by this coming Friday 2nd March 2007. This is why we have not said anything since last week until this deal was behind us.

I am the father of a 10year old boy. I am currently moving around (on the run) with my son to avoid the court order to return him to the abusive and violent situation he has come from. I am so desperate for help, I have exhausted all legal avenues and I am in major debt with court and lawyer fees.

book 'The Eureka Stockade- by Arthur Cristian

Tony Rigg has agreed to be/live behind the barriers as of Tuesday morning 20th February 2007. In discussions with Tony, we now ask all victims of banisters since the 1970's to unite together in solidarity with us, as a show of strength and unity in support of the 2nd Eureka Stockade. For those who do not know about Tony's actions since the mid 1980's please go to this page for further information.

There is and has always been a divine influence that has meddled in the minds of the bank staff, the solicitors and the judiciary, leading to our court case and now the 2nd Eureka Stockade. The opportunity has been presented to us and we should grab it while we have got it and use it to force our story into main-stream. This coming together of all victims in the spirit of love-for-life is a healing and a stand for love-for-life. Alan Heart, a native American is compiling Australian victims of banks into a website and this is being listed in our website shortly.

Climate Change Road Show-by Ruth Rosenhek

In response to growing public concern about climate change, the Rainforest Information Centre is taking to the road to address the psychological and emotional issues surrounding global warming.

The multi-media presentation includes video footage of Al Gore speaking about the huge impact Australia could make in the U.S. if it signed the Kyoto Protocol.

'War crime risk for MPs in 'retro' case against Hicks'

Australia's support of a new, retrospective terrorism charge against David Hicks has put members of the Federal Government at serious risk of committing a war crime, a leading Victorian silk and international law expert has warned.

Peter Vickery, QC, said members of the Government were at risk of breaching the Australian criminal code as well as Australia's international treaty obligations by urging the US to proceed with the present draft charges against Hicks.

Mr Vickery, an International Commission of Jurists special "rapporteur" on Hicks, said the charge of "material support for terrorism" against Hicks was a classic retrospective law which did not exist in 2001.
