Poison DUst

- from Information Clearing House
Poison DUst tells the story of young soldiers who thought they came home safely from the war, but didn't. Of a veteran's young daughter whose birth defect is strikingly similar to birth defects suffered by many Iraqi children. Of thousands of young vets who are suffering from the symptoms of uranium poisoning, and the thousands more who are likely to find themselves with these ailments in the years to come. Of a government unwilling to admit there might be a problem here.
Filmmaker Sue Harris skillfully weaves the stories of these young veterans with scientific explanations of the nature of "DU" and its dangers, including interviews with former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark, New York Daily News reporter Juan Gonzalez, noted physicist Michio Kaku, Dr. Rosalie Bertell, Dr. Helen Caldicott and Major Doug Rokke- the former U.S. Army DU Project head.

George Bush's Samson Option

The Samson Option is terminology used to explain Israel's intention to use its nuclear arsenal as an ultimate defense strategy if its leaders feel threatened enough to think they have no alternative. It comes from the biblical Samson said to have used his great strength to bring down the pillars of a Philistine temple, downing its roof and killing himself and thousands of Philistine tormentors. It's a strategy saying if you try killing me, we'll all die together, or put another way, we'll all go together when we go. Richard Wagner had his apocalyptic version in the last of his four operas of Der Ring des Nibelungen - Gotterdammerung, or Twilight of the Gods based on Norse mythology referring to a prophesied war of the Gods resulting in the end of the world.

- by John Bellamy Foster

Capital's endless pursuit of new outlets for class-based accumulation requires for its continuation the destruction of both pre-existing natural conditions and previous social relations. Class exploitation, imperialism, war, and ecological devastation are not mere unrelated accidents of history but interrelated, intrinsic features of capitalist development.

Why Bush's 'new' Iraq strategy will fail
IRAQ: On January 10, US President George Bush unveiled his government's new plan for prosecuting Washington's almost four-year-old counterinsurgency war in Iraq, which in a December 20 interview with the Washington Post he for the first time acknowledged the US was "not winning".

Somalia: Death and despair the 'benefits' of war on terror
SOMALIA: In what seems to be becoming a signature atrocity of US President George Bush's "war on terror", US air strikes hit a Somali wedding ceremony, according to a January 10 BBC Online report.

Peace Poetry

Submitted by Paolo Borsoni on Thu, 18/01/2007 - 10:35

Noi che volevamo apprestare il mondo alla gentilezza
Only a spark of fragility
can free from this dance of darkness,
from the frenzy of this world
of engines and wars,
which gets excited
and proud
of grief and tears.
Only fragility
can give hope
in this miserable night of the soul
where peace is but rest
(after the slaughter),
awful is death
(but only of one's mates),
enticing the looks of those
who with intoxicating persuasiveness
reassure us, soothe us leading us,
along the last stretch of the road
(to our final ruin and massacre).
Doves of Peace
"I breed pigs
- the man says to me -
I have just come back home to rest.
I'll start shooting again later"-
"I didn't hear anything
- the woman candidly confesses, -
I take so many sleeping pills!
In spite of the bombing I have just woken up".
I look out of the window.
There is what is left of a soldier in a farmyard:
a foot, a sock...
a cut-off leg...

FACE FoundationA new World Rainforest Movement report 'A funny place to store carbon' documents human rights abuses at Mount Elgon National Park in east Uganda, where the Dutch FACE Foundation has been planting carbon 'offset' trees since 1994. The report exposes how villagers living along the boundary of the park have been beaten and shot at, have been barred from their land and have seen their livestock confiscated by armed park rangers guarding the 'carbon trees' inside the National Park.

Saddam turned martyr

The noose for Saddam1) They killed a man but reinforced a symbol
2) Dhaka: protest against the killing of Saddam
3) Ethiopia's proxy aggression on Somalia
4) Support the Somali Islamic people's resistance
5) Lebanon: We ALL ... want to live!

1) Saddam turned martyr
A symbol cannot be killed

The press conference by which the imperator expressed his cruel congratulations to the hanging of Saddam Hussein leaves no doubt about the real author of this political homicide. Saddam was in American hands. It was them to arrest him and keep him in custody. Only after being sure that he will be executed they consigned him to their lackeys.

Sunday, December 31st, 2006 - The conventional healthcare system in the US, rated 72nd in quality but first in cost by the World Health Organization, (WHO) and declared in the authoritative study "Death by Medicine" to be the number one killer of Americans is finally beginning to suffer the consequences of its policies.

Americans are challenging, not just the concept of "five minute medicine," but the absurdity of the "drugs, drugs, and more drugs," approach to dealing with health issues.

Everywhere in the land, the health care system is being challenged. State legislatures, like California and others, are so fed up with the greedy-maw-with-trash-offering of organized health-care, that many are considering forcing health care into State-run systems, in an attempt to force some honesty and integrity into the morass. Consumer groups across America are railing over health issues, loudly, proclaiming their anger at vaccinations infested with pollutants and toxins, deadly radioactive fluoride in their water, testing of their children in schools to justify forced drugging, and more.
