BHP Billiton should come to the party and give striking Elouera miners a fair go, so the 2 week picket can end. Michael Organ said today.

"The miners are simply asking for wage parity with the BHP Billiton workers at the Appin Colliery".

"I met with 7 of the 86 picketing miners on Friday and among this group there was 180 years of experience, skill and dedication to the job, so equality of pay rates is a reasonable demand".

"Elouera Mine is also victim to the trend of casualisation which has seen its workforce going from 138 full time permanent workers down to its current 86".

"Workers must have wage justice and opportunities for permanent work with all the hard won entitlements that make for a decent workplace and good management", Mr Organ said.
