Possible Scam Under Name Of First Liberty Lottery

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Fri, 03/08/2007 - 09:48.

August 2, 2007 - Today my wife received a letter from First Liberty Lottery Payment Center indicating that she had won a lottery in Las Vegas, Nevada with a prize of $120,000 US. The letter enclosed a check in the amount of $1,980 for payment of a claim fee. We're supposed to call a certain phone number to confirm receipt of the check, etc. We have 3 weeks from the date of the letter (which is undated) to claim the prize. First Liberty Lottery Payment Center says its based in Delta, British Columbia (Canada).

I couldn't find a website for First Liberty Lottery Payment Center. I called the number on the letter (778-316-6413) and got a recording to leave a message so someone could return my call. I didn't leave a message.

The check that was included with the letter (which didn't have a return address) was drawn on Regions Bank out of Louisiana, supposedly on the account of Scott Powerline and Utility Equipment. I called Regions Bank to try to report a possibly fraudulent check, but was told by the customer service rep that they don't do merchant verifications on the phone, couldn't help me and I would have to go to a local branch, although I explained that I live in the Northeast U.S. where there are no branches of that bank, which is regional to the Southern U.S. I would guess that this uncooperative attitude is what has lead the scammers to simulate checks drawn on this bank. I might try to deposit the check to see what happens, but I'm pretty sure I already know. Beware of this First Liberty Lottery Payment Center, which appears to be yet another variant on the scams outlined above. Good luck to all.

my husband recieved the same letter but the check for 1980.00 was from Digital federal credit union, when he called they said it was a scam and if cashed they wouldn't honor the check. So, beware of this one.

I received the same exact letter yesterday 13 August 2007 in the mail. With the same details as you mentioned. The check looks real and all. I don't understand how these people are able to do this. I was so excited but also cautious. I did leave a message but I havent heard anything back from anyone. What do you do with something like this?? I am glad to know I checked the internet to see if anyone else had received this letter as well. The internet is a beautiful thing. I am in need of this money but I can't afford to take a loss either.

On August 3rd I also got the same letter with the same check but the phone number that was on my letter to call was ( 1-778-316-7950) I am trying to call Scott Powerline And Utility Equipment which is the name on the check I looked up the website for this company and even though the city and state were the same the address and phone number on the check did not match the ones on the website, it's Sat. so I'm not sure if I will get a hold of anyone there if not I'll try again on Mon. The letter I recieved was fishy, in the title liberty was not capitolized like the rest of the words and in the second line publishers was mispelled, it was missing the b.

Embassy International Lotto. is this a scam?

Submitted by Fl0w3rReptile on Thu, 26/07/2007 - 07:53.

Just recently i received a letter saying that i won a 3rd place prize ($55,000) from a Free lotto Promotion Program held in the United Kingdom signature by Anna B. Mile President of who knows who. Also I received a check from the Embassy of the State of Kuwait, in order to pay off the tax charges from my winnings. In order to receive my 55k i need to cash in this check first. The signature on the check is clearly unreadable. This seems fishy to me since each of the documents I received are from, London UK, Ontario Canada, and Washington D.C. This check seems real enough since it has my bank listed on the bottom of the check (HSBC Bank USA). I called the phone number listed on my letter (1-204-877-6834) to see if my winning is true. The same woman answered the few times I called and said I do not have to join anything to receive my winnings, I just have to cash the check. What i would really like to know is how the hell did the Embassy of Kuwait get my name from New York. This all seems too good to be true, this has to be a scam. But I wonder, what are these people getting out of this??? I want to warn people if anyone else has gotten this same letter to be careful!!!!!

Please reply^^

I got one of these letters too. It says I won 887,536.00 euros.
The draw was only held two weeks ago and I am ALREADY receiving a final notice. I only have 2 1/2 weeks left to claim my prize. These guys really aren't trying too hard to get my money to me.
Something tells me they dont want me to have my 887,536.00 euros.

It's a bunch of crap.

The vice president this week is Manuel Garcia...his signature looks a lot like Ellen Margley.

My mom just got this in the mail, may 11 2007, and it was from The Hispanic Lottery International Promotions Programm. it said that my mom's name was attached to a winning number and it said "which consequently won the lottery in the 2nd category". The letter claimed that we've won 728889.00euros alot of money eh? well it told me to contact this guy name DR VILLA DIEGO.. funny how i read this forum and all the contact agents have the name DR... anyways i called him and he kept on telling me to repeat my moms name over and over again because supposely he couldn't get it through the computer didn't sound spanish one bit.. and when i called a lady picked up and then told me to hold on and my line was transfered to a man supposely claming to be DR VILLA DIEGO.. didn't sound spanish, more like african.. i mean why would an african man want more money africa has the whole world helping it. Anyways so when i called him he was prentending to type on the computer i could hear him doing something in the background and then he told me my address, to my suprise the envelope that came with the letter DIDN'T have a return address and on the envelope it just had my mom's first initials and then her last name and our address. The signature of the photocopied paper doesn't even look like the name of the vice president MIGUEL FERNANDEZ, these names of the presidents or vice presidents sure seem to change ALOT. And surely it came from Madrid,Spain,. I had an operator help me with calling this DR VILLA DIEGO on the phone and the operator called the operators in SPAIN! Yes in Spain! And yet no name of DR VILLA DIEGO came up in their listings. I went to the bank this morning , may 12 2007, and one of the tellers said that a man came in the other day and had the same letter regarding his winnings. I wanted to know if the serial numbers and everything were all the same. I advise anyone who gets this to not send their account number. Instead maybe send a fake id or some sort and see what happends that way you'd know its legit. No just kidding just don't send any information about yourself or others unless you know who you're talking to.

Received EuroMillions Letter yesterday

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 26/07/2007 - 01:15.

Received Award Notification Notice ink signed in original by Vice President Miguel Fernandez. The letter says that "We are pleased to inform you today the 20th of July 2007 of the results of THE EURO MILLIONS LOTTERY INTERNATIONAL PROMOTIONS PROGRAM held on the 9th March 2007 as part of our yearly program. Your name attached to a ticket number 01-2577.......won the lottery in the 2nd category. You have therefore been approved for a lump sum payout of Euro728,889.00 in cash".
The letter has come from Spain. Do not know how they got my Ottawa, Canada address. The have asked for bank details or if they send check, then an ID card photocopy, date of birth.
Looks like a scam as reported by others. Want to share this info as somebody else might also got this letter. To stop these guys, something should be done. By knowing the date of birth and an ID copy; these guys want to do something. They have already figured out the address; plus this info they seek.... are they trying to draw money from credit card or is it some other fraud. Any experiences of others will be helpful to all.

I hope that this does not reach you too late, I just saw your email on the Alternative News Network site. Please do not send any money or account information these people. This is just another form of the Nigerian Form letters scam that was going around a few years ago. I regularly receive these types of emails but I either send them a nasty return or just ignore them. Fortunately, I was made aware of this scam due to being contacted by one of these theives via the form letters.

Just got the mail today.

They must think we are as green as grass to think that we(I) would fall for their scams, hoever recently on aussie TV there was a case of some poor bastard who had , over A period of 16years, lost his business and home, so there are some who, unfortunately think they are onto a good thing. The first letter i recieved was in march 2007 saying i had won £887,536. I got really excited, i showed it to my brother and he told me to rip it up as its a scam. i recieved a second one on the 13th April telling me that i had until the 30th april to claim my money. The funny thing is that they asked me to keep this from public notice until the money went into my account, the first thing i did was ring my local paper and ring watchdog. I hope these bastards get caught...............

Spanish mob Euromillones Leteria International had my (Sydney) address too. A cheap colour printer is all it takes. There is a deadline to contact them by April 28th (about two weeks) or miss out. The attached "claim form" is looking for Next of Kin details too. Ambitious! My prize was only 685,810 Euros. A lot of the paragraphs are word for word the same as others already posted on the net.

I also received the same letter from the Spanish Lottery. I looked at it and looked at it and agreed that it was a real check. But I never registered for any foreign lotteries. So I called. The person on the line was a woman and she reassured me that the check was real but to call back on Monday during business hours. Instead I went on line and found the website which indicated that the whole thing was a scam. Thank God for the Internet.

This is the content of a letter I received last week from GOODWILL LOTTO. Please notice that a check for $3500.00 was enclosed for me to use to pay the surcharges. I have verified the phone number and the account number associated with the check with my bank. I need some input from the community here before moving forward. I'm very suspicious/skeptical that the scamists are changing their techniques in an attempt to scam me and others of their hard earned money.

Peace to all.

But nobody from Spain?!

Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 28/03/2007 - 07:40.

Today I got the same shit like all these peolpe here in this forum. The amount is slighly different and the vice president changed again - they have a turnover, gosh!!!
I called my designated foreign operations manager Dr. Antonio Martinez - he did not introduce himself, was very unprofessional and as he asked me to "hold the line for a minute so he can check the system for my ref.no." i could hear him unwrapping something and munshing - lunch perhaps?
Well anyway, I will fax them the form but without banc details asking them to send me an "authorised cheque" - i just want to find out what happens.
They even attached a picture of a lucky winner from the national lottery in UK, to make it look real, which they just googled from the internet!
unbelievable what an efford they take to fool people!! It seams they are operating now for wuite a long time already, and nobody stopped them...
Another thing that caught my attention while searching the web for forums like this one is, that no one from Spain itself seams to receive these letters! Of course, if I would live in Spain, or even Madrid and I would get such a "chance" I would personally walk into their "office" to chake hands with my angels of fortune!! ;-)

I hope these bastards get what they diserve!

if someone sends you email saying you won money overseas dont take it as even if they do send it i have heard of people receiving money then getting knock on door from FBI as it was terrorist groups getting rid of money to cover their tracks and then people getting charged with aiding terrorism.
DONT BE STUPID. if you have won money they wont email you they will send you a letter in the post with a cheque not asking for account details.
If you are stupid enough to think this could be real you deserve to lose your money.
this is why people do these skams cuz their are people like you who are dumb enough to fall for it.

Hello to all lottery scam winners!!! I'm from Canada and I have received 4 letters for the last 2 months total wins of approx. 2 millions WOW!!!LUCKY ME. Each notification were presented with different name of agent and different name of vice president(I wonder how many vice presidents they have?).Last letter notifies that I'm winner of 887,536.00 euros. Yea,RIGHT!!! Just to let you know folks, those fraudsters from Spain are not for your personal information, because what they ask to provide simly not enough to do something with( for example transfer your funds from your account to another account). They after what they call "processing fee"or "banking fees' or "loyer fee",that you have to pay in order to get your millions and those millions you'll never see. So folks do not fall for this SCAM!

AND YOU ARE THE LUCKY WINNER.
IT WOULD BE GREAT TO WIN SUCH A LOTTER WITHOUT NEEDING TO PROVIDE ANY DETAILS AND THE MONEY JUST LANDING AT YOUR DOORSTEP. WAITING FOR THAT DAY. I THINK IT WOULD COME AS WELL BUT WOULD BE FAKE CURRECY!!!.
BE CAREFUL GUYS. DO NOT EVEN DREAM OF GETTING SOMETHING OUT OF THESE. YOU DO NOT WIN A LOTTER IF YOU HAVE NOT BOUGHT A TICKET. THE BOTTOM LINE.
