The Concert Series commenced in 2000 and have been held annually throughout Queensland reaching Brisbane, Bundaberg, Emerald, Hervey Bay, Beerwah, Charters Towers and Gold Coast residents.

The free concert will be held at the Atherton International Club, Kennedy Highway, Atherton and will run from 10:30am to 11:30am. It will be followed by morning tea with the Premier.

Premier Peter Beattie said the concert would feature professional musicians as well as local performers in a celebration of Christmas through song.

"I am delighted to provide a special Christmas initiative for the senior citizens of regional Queensland at this special time of year," Mr Beattie said.

"It will be great to be back in Atherton. (Mr Beattie grew up in Atherton before moving to Brisbane to undertake legal studies).

"The concert will feature a magical medley of classic old-time and contemporary tunes as well as a sing-along of traditional Christmas carols.

"Led by professional musicians, the concert will also feature a performance by the Atherton School Choirs," he said.

The concert is free but entry is strictly by ticket only. Seniors are encouraged to call (07) 3405 5215 by Friday 26th November to secure their place. Group bookings are welcome.

This year's other concert is in Toowoomba on Friday December 10.
