If so, the 2004 Food Irradiation Awareness Tour needs YOU!!
The Food Irradiation Awareness Tour is starting in one month! The Tour will travel up the east coast starting in Melbourne and stopping in Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns raising awareness about food irradiation and our local campaign to stop the nuclear irradiation plant at Narangba/Deception Bay, Qld.
Our international guest speaker is Wenonah Hauter, consumer advocate, food irradiation expert, organic farmer and Director of Public Citizen's Critical Mass Energy and Environment Program in Washington DC, USA.
Other speakers include: Bonny Bauer, Rural Commentator (FNQ), Andre Leu, Chair of the Organic Federation of Australia, and Fran Jell, Narangba community campaigner.
The purpose of the Tour is to:
* raise community and industry awareness,
* network with decision makers,
* facilitate the formation of a national network about food irradiation,
* promote alternatives,
* and to lobby for change.
Help!: We are organising a politician/bureaucrat/interest group meeting in Canberra but are still looking for a host for a public meeting/event or social function in Canberra.
Help!: In Brisbane, we still need help organising the Brisbane leg of the tour as well as coordinating national events.
In Brisbane will expect to have a public meeting, a social/networking dinner, a food irradiation strategy lunch, an activist skillshare, and hopefully a media event and/or action.
Other regions are doing similar events, but need our support networking with "stakeholders" and doing ,media and publicity for the tour and providing them information about the issues
If you can help out in any way, or would like to participate in tour activities, please contact Robin on 0411 118 737 or by email at stop...@hotmail.com
Thank you!
