"The Australian Government's attempt to avoid responsibility for complying with international maritime law shows it to be unethical in its practice, and a very bad neighbour."

"The level of poverty and unemployment in East Timor may mean it is forced to accept John Howard's grossly unfair Unitisation deal being discussed here today."

"Options for a fairer process are to stop unilaterally exploiting East Timor's resources until this maritime boundary dispute is settled, toplace all revenue in an escrow account and to stop issuing new exploration licenses in seabed territory that is closer to East Timor than Australia."

"Australia must rejoin itself to the resolution mechanisms of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea and the International Court of Justice" Ms Tucker said.
