Separated fathers may be interested to note the following:

CONTACT STATISTICS

The survey revealed that approx 33% of children see their absent parent daily or once per week (this is a 5% improvement on the 1997 figure).  About 17% have once per fortnight contact (a surprisingly low figure and little changed since 1997;  perhaps the alternate weekend contact is reflected in the "once a week" figure).  About 25% of kids have contact between once a month and once a year.  A huge 26% have little or no contact at all. 

On the question of overnights, the survey is not comforting.  About half of separated children have no overnight contact with their absent parent.  Approx 30% have overnights fortnightly or more.  But only 6% have overnight stays that could be described as shared parenting, ie from 30% to 50% of  available nights.  All figures show an improvement in father-contact, however the picture is far from ideal.
