Media release - September 23, 2004

"The Greens are not aware of any public commitment from the Nationals to do the honourable thing and return the $17,000-plus in donations from James Hardie," said Greens NSW Senate candidate John Kaye.

"Now that Labor, the Liberals and the Democrats have promised to return the tens of thousands of dollars they've received from James Hardie, it's time for the Nationals to cough up.

"The Nationals cannot ignore the moral imperative to distance themselves from this tainted money.

"Are the Nationals hiding behind John Howard, who has committed to returning the Liberals' money, while they hang on to their share?

"The Greens call on John Anderson to tell the public that the Nationals will return these donations," said Mr Kaye.
